Chevrolet Corvette L76 Roadster Description:

Note: This vehicle is consigned as Lot #S173 at the September 16-19, 2010 St Charles, IL Mecum auction and is scheduled to go across the block at approximately 8:05 pm CDT on Saturday, September 18, 2010.

This stunning restored 1963 Corvette Stingray Roadster sports its original matching number 327ci/340hp L76 engine and 4-speed manual close ratio T-10 tranny as well as its original configuration Silver Blue exterior with Dark Blue interior, white soft top and body color hard top. It also sports repo cast aluminum knock off wheels (these wheels were introduced on ’63 Vettes (RPO P48), but casting quality problems caused air leak issues and delayed full introduction to ’64). The L76 engine was the high performance carbureted solid lifter 327ci/340 hp version of Chevrolet’s venerable small block V8 engine.

1963 was the first year of Chevrolet’s five year run of Stingray Vettes and the first Vette with independent rear suspension. This beauty’s VIN, Tim Tag & engine stamp decode as follows:

It would be a significant challenge to find a more correct and/or higher quality investment grade example of the classic ‘63 L76 Corvette Stingray Roadster. It runs like a Swiss watch (on steroids) and draws a crowd wherever it goes.

Known History:
The owner of approximately 20 years brought the well preserved 60,000 mile car in basically original condition to the 2000 Chicago Corvette show and sold it. The new owner eventually sold the car to his brother who had the car restored by Corvette City of Highland Park, Il. A complete mechanical restoration was performed, including suspension and drive train, as well as gauges, exterior and brightwork. All of the important original components/parts were used. The restoration was completed in December, 2003 and since then the car has been driven less than 2,000 miles.
